How to Add Multiple Gateways to WisDM Using CSV

WisDM allows you to onboard multiple gateways to a Location at once using a CSV file.

This method is useful when deploying multiple gateways, as it avoids adding each gateway individually.

Before You Start

Make sure:

  • The target Location already exists.
  • Its LoRaWAN work mode is configured.
  • WisDM integration is enabled on the gateways.
  • You have the Serial Number and Gateway EUI for each gateway.
  • For gateways using the Basics Station Forwarder and Authentication method, prepare the Client certificate and client key or the Client token

Download the CSV Template

  1. Go to Locations.
  2. Select the target Location.
  3. Open the Gateways tab.
  4. Click Add Gateway.
  5. Find the Upload CSV section.
  6. Click the template to download the provided CSV template.

Prepare the Gateway List

Complete the template with the gateway information:

  • Serial Number
  • Gateway EUI
  • Gateway Name

The maximum CSV upload size is 1 MB.

Basics Station Locations

If the Location uses Basics Station and Use individual client keys is enabled, additional credentials may be required for each gateway.

Depending on the configured authentication mode, this can include:

  • Client certificate and client key
  • Client token

Upload the CSV

After completing the template:

  1. Return to the Upload CSV section.
  2. Drag and drop the CSV file into the upload area, or select the file manually.
  3. Wait for WisDM to validate the gateway information.

WisDM checks whether the gateways are compatible with the selected Location.

After validation, gateways are separated into:

  • Available – the gateway passed validation.
  • Unavailable – one or more validation checks failed.

For unavailable gateways, check the Status column for the reason.

Add the Validated Gateways

Select the required gateways from the Available list and click Add gateways.

The successfully added gateways will then appear in the Location's gateway list.

Built-in Network Server Consideration

For a Location using Built-in Network Server, the first gateway is the Central Gateway.

Note: The Central gateway needs to be with Public IP address or accessible from the network the Extender gateway/s use. 

For cellular deployments, make sure the cellular provider does not block inbound traffic for the Central gateway. 

The Central Gateway must be added before Extender Gateways, and it must remain online while Extender Gateways are being added.

CSV upload is supported for adding Extender Gateways after the Central Gateway has been configured.
