WisDM is RAKwireless' cloud-based platform for remotely managing and monitoring RAK IoT gateway fleets.
It brings gateway configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting into a centralized platform, allowing you to manage individual gateways or entire deployments remotely.
WisDM is designed for RAK commercial-grade gateways for LoRaWAN® and can be used for deployments ranging from a few gateways to large IoT networks.
What Can You Do with WisDM?
WisDM provides tools for managing gateways throughout their deployment and operation.
Remote Gateway Management
Configure and manage gateways remotely instead of accessing each gateway individually.
WisDM supports both individual gateway management and bulk operations, making it possible to manage configuration across a gateway fleet from a centralized interface.
LoRaWAN Network Configuration
WisDM supports remote management of the LoRaWAN network configuration using the following work modes:
- Packet Forwarder
- Basics Station
- Built-in Network Server

Locations can be used to group gateways that share the same LoRaWAN network configuration.
Network Interface Management
Monitor and configure gateway Internet connectivity remotely.
WisDM supports management of:
- Ethernet
- Wi-Fi
- Cellular
MultiWAN configuration allows WAN interfaces to be prioritized so that a gateway can switch between available interfaces when connectivity issues occur.
Gateway Monitoring
WisDM provides remote visibility into gateway status and performance.
You can monitor gateway information and operational status and use WisDM Metrics for fleet-level monitoring and dashboards.
Notifications can also be used to alert users about gateway events and status changes.
Remote Diagnostics
WisDM provides remote troubleshooting tools without requiring local access to the gateway.
Available diagnostic capabilities include:
- Real-time system logs
- Historical system logs
- Packet capture
- Remote SSH access
These tools allow gateway and LoRaWAN connectivity issues to be investigated directly through WisDM.
Firmware Management
Gateway firmware can be managed remotely using over-the-air updates.
WisDM supports firmware management for individual gateways as well as multiple gateways, reducing the need to access gateways individually for firmware maintenance.
Gateway Pre-Provisioning
WisDM supports gateway pre-provisioning, allowing gateway settings to be prepared before deployment.
When a pre-provisioned gateway connects, the prepared configuration can be applied without requiring the complete configuration process to be performed on site.
User and Access Management
WisDM provides user and permission management for organizations.
This allows access to gateway fleets and WisDM functionality to be managed according to the responsibilities of different users.
How Is WisDM Organized?
WisDM uses a three-level structure:
Organization → Location → Gateway
Organization
The Organization is the top level of the WisDM structure and contains the Locations, gateways, users, subscriptions, and organization-level settings.
Location
A Location groups gateways that share a common LoRaWAN network configuration.
Gateway
Gateways are the physical RAK gateway devices managed through WisDM. Once added and connected to WisDM, their configuration, status, monitoring, and supported management functions become available remotely.
Getting Started
To start using WisDM, sign in with your RAK ID, create an Organization and Location, configure the required LoRaWAN network mode, and add your gateway.
The Community plan is available for getting started with up to three gateways.
